On our latest project we installed a cable railing system to our clients "Lanai" (aka deck/balcony) & stairs. The home has a gorgeous elevated ocean front view and the sunsets there are amazing to say the least. To take advantage of such a scenery we recommended to install a cable railing system. Due to its slim design the cable railing allows an almost invisible, unobstructed view of the outside scenery, thus enhancing the viewing experience. It also has a very attractive modern looking style that has the ability to blend in with any home design. The use of glass railing would be another great option being as it also provides for an unobstructed view and is aesthetically pleasing as well. But since this property is so close to where the rolling waves crash into the oceanfront cliffs, the resulting whitewash overspray will inevitably make contact with the glass leaving salt water spots and residue. This would require consistent wipe down & cleaning to prevent residue build up and water spots. On this home the stainless steel cable railing is the in our opinion is the best option.

​​ihbhawaii is proud to announce that it has added two new machines to their fleet! A Sunward Mini-Excavator & Manitou Telescopic Forklift aka "Telehandler". Purchased at the Construction & Agriculture Expo 2017 (CONEXPO-CON/AGG) this past march the new additions will aid in productivity and efficiency on current and future job sites. Thus resulting in shorter build times for our current and future clients. 

BUT WHAT DOES IT REALLY MEAN FOR OUR CLIENTS?

Sunward Mini-Excavator:

• can easily maneuver into tight spaces in and around the job site to perform quick work of which previously would have taken longer to finish by hand . Tasks such as:
  • Precisely carving out foundation footings 
  • Moving & spreading of ground material 
  • Breaking through tough rock & hard ground surfaces w/  hammer attachment
  • Digging trenches for underground utilities
• quieter machine, less noise for the neighbors to hear
• 360 degree functionality gives us the ability to sit in one spot & have a nice, smooth, effective & efficient, work flow vs. our previous method; constantly placing & repositioning our backhoe into the right spots. 
• Zero-Tail Swing makes operating SAFER. With "Zero-Tail" this Mini-Excavator lacks the bulging protruding tail/back end, (most common on full size excavators) increasing operator visibility and drastically lowering the chance that an operator will damage the machine or our client’s property unintentionally. 

Manitou Telehandler:

• forklift w/ ability to lift 9000 lbs to a maximum height of 57'7".  Common Tasks:
  • moving lumber, tools, & material from the ground floor to the second or third floor quickly & efficiently decreasing labor costs
  • utilizing Extendable Jib Attachment to hoist up roof trusses replacing the need & cost of boom truck services
  • ability to use as a work platform (holds up to 3 people) to perform various tasks at varying heights along side the structure reducing the over reliance & sometimes complete need of scaffolding. 

• Outriggers, also known as stabilizers provide the telehandler additional stability support when fully extended. With the stabilizers planted into the ground it allows the telehandler to SAFELY lift & drop heavy loads, drastically reducing the risk of the machine tipping over. This safety feature is often overlooked by many general contractors mainly because stabilizers are mainly put on telehanlders with a  load capacity of at least 9000lbs and up & when building homes one would not even come close to lifting 9000lbs, a few thousand tops... so with that said many general contractors do not see the need for a 9000lb machine with outriggers, to them its overkill. So instead they opt for the lesser load capacity & cheaper telehandler without stabilizers. Unfortunately in my 30+ years in the construction industry I've seen literally first hand, right in front of me, how dangerous & deadly it can be to operate a telehandler with no outriggers when extended and loaded.... You cant put price on life so I make sure my guys & clients are in a safe environment every time they step onto the job site.
